Well Control Level 1 IWCF launched the Level-1 well control awareness course following recommendations in IOGP’s Report 476 after the Macondo tragedy. Level-1 supports our drive to increase the understanding of how well control incidents can occur, their consequences and prevention methods. Level-1 is the industry's first free, online course which is perfect for anyone new or experienced in the industry, especially students and graduates, personnel involved in well control and those who are simply interested in well control. The Level-1 course has 7 modules which cover the following topics: • Overview of Oil and Gas • Life Cycle of a Well • Drilling Rigs • Well Control During Drilling Operations • Well Intervention and Workover • Pressure Control During Well Intervention • Conclusion. At the end of each module there is a knowledge check which the candidate must successfully complete before moving on to the final exam. If a pass mark of 70% or more is achieved in the final exam, candidates will be able to access their online certificate.
